Sowing seeds

Carrot seed can be sowed directly into the prepared soil or transplanted from nursery, plant them  not top root deep , spaced according to the seed packet instruction mainly 5 to 8 cm part, ensure proper space to allow room for the carrot to develop their roots

Watering

Keep the soil consistently moist during early growth stages. Water gently to avoid displacing the seeds or cause them to cluster together , once the carrot to start develop , avoid over watering them as it can be lead to rotting or splitting

Thinning if necessary

Once the carrot the seedling are a few cm tall thin them to allow sufficient space for the remaining carrot to grow. Thinning involves removing excess seedling usually leaving about 5 to 8 cm of space between plants for proper growth

Mulching

Mulching applying a layer organic mulch such as straw around the carrot plant to help retain soil moisture, suppress weed growth and regulate soil temperature. Mulching also protect the carrot shoulder from turning green when exposed to sun light.

Weed control

Regularly scout and remove weeds around the carrot plan as they can compete for nutrients water and space. Make sure you do not disturb the shallow root system of the carrot while weeding

Fertilization

Carrot are not heavy feeders but incorporating compost or well decomposed manure into the soil prior to planting can supply them with necessary nutrients for the growth. Avoid using fresh manure. In organic fertilizers and foliar sprays can also be used

Pest and disease management

Carrot are generally less prone to pest and disease but issues such as carrot rust, keep insects in control, for root practice and avoid watering

 Harvesting carrot maturity

takes around 60 to 80 days after sowing , depend on the variety(  check the seed packet for specific maturity times) carefully loosen the soil the carrot and gently pull them out by the leaves , taking care not break or damage the roots
